Aluminum jewelry was worn by those who could not afford silver. Aluminum was collected from German and U.S. plane wrecks, during and after WWII, the metal was melted and re-used in the same traditional way of brass and bronze casting.

The Tuareg tribe are traditionally nomads living primarily in the Sahara. Their jewelry  motifs at times represents good health, protection from misfortune and illness. They also believe the amulets and talismans protect from the evil eye. They have specially trained silver smiths and jewelry artisans.
